Housing Solutions for Adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities
Our Place NH is dedicated to providing supportive, secure, and fully staffed housing solutions for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who require ongoing assistance. Their mission is to ensure a smooth transition of care for these adults from their aging parents to a stable, reliable, and compassionate environment, especially when their daily living needs exceed what their families can provide.
Each year the Seacoast Newcomers Club selects a non-profit organization to support through a portion of our annual dues and with fundraising activities run by our organization. We are delighted to announce that Our Place NH has been chosen by our Board of Directors as SNC’s beneficiary for 2025-2026.
We encourage you to watch this short video from NH Chronicle featuring Laurie McIntosh, the Founder and Board Chair of Our Place NH, who is also a mother of two sons with IDD:

Since 2019, Our Place NH has been actively fundraising and seeking the ideal location for supportive housing for adults with IDD. In August 2024, Our Place NH purchased their first property in Dover, NH with the help of private and public donors and sponsors. The organization is now focused on raising an additional $2.5 million for the necessary construction and renovations. Construction is targeted to begin in Spring 2026, with renovations expected to be completed in early 2027. Once open, this residence will provide a fully staffed, secure, nurturing and empowering home for 11 adults with IDD.
Currently, over 100 individuals are on the waitlist for housing solutions like Our Place NH. Without such options, adult foster care is often the only alternative for adults with IDD. To address this significant need, Our Place NH plans to secure and open additional homes in the future. The organization has received support from GoodWork Seacoast, a Portsmouth-based non-profit incubator, and is modeling their project after a successful operational model of a handful of similar organizations in the state.
We are excited to support Our Place NH in their vital work and look forward to our collective efforts in making a positive impact.
